North Americans are getting fatter at an alarming rate.  Obesity is even occurring in young children.  And now doctors are reporting an increase in the number of people who fit into the “extreme obesity” category.  A person who is 100 pounds or more overweight can be considered “extremely obese” or “super obese”.

Health Risks

Obesity puts individuals and society at terrible risk.  Health conditions linked to obesity include:

  • Type 2 diabetes
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Heart disease
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Sleep apnea
  • Depression
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Joint pain

Obesity affects well‑being and prevents people from reaching their full potential.  It also affects productivity in the workplace, and it can cause increased health care costs.

It’s time to GET it!  It’s time to turn back the clock.  We must choose a healthy diet and a more active lifestyle.
